On the occasion of the International Museum Day the Ministry for culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Republic organized a presentation of the multimedia project “Night at the Museum” on the occasion of the International Museum Day at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art.

Sevda Mammadaliyeva, deputy Minister for Culture spoke about the importance of the International Museum Day, which is held every year. She noted that this year’s International Museum Day is dedicated to the theme of “Power of Museums: “International Museum Day is widely celebrated in our country too. Today, with the organization of the Ministry for Culture and with the support of Swedish Embassy in Azerbaijan, the “Museum Night” project is presented at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art with the help of various multimedia projects”.

Christian Kamill, Swedish Ambassador in our country said that museums have the power to change the world around us. As an unparalleled places of discovery, the museums teach us about our past and open our minds to new ideas: “To this day, I have visited many museums not only in the main museums of Baku, but also in rural areas.There are at least a dozen museums to visit in the regions, many of which are home museums of prominent Azerbaijani musicians, poets and scientists.I to feel satisfied very much to discover all this and take this opportunity to thank all the museum staff for the warm welcome always shown during the visit.

I am especially glad that tonight also is being presented the Swedish-Azerbaijani Art Dialogue project, curated by Konul Rafiyeva. Artist Ludmila Kristeseva from our capital Stockholm and Gunel Ravilova from Baku have never met in person, but this beautiful installation shown tonight was created during pandemic by them.”

The opening of the multimedia project took place with the first open-air concert conducted by the Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Fuad Ibrahimov accompanied by the Baku Chamber Orchestra soloists prizeman of international competitions, Aziz Panah (oboe) and Narmin Najafli (piano), as well as with program in which on selected exhibits from the museum’s rich collection people`s artist Sattar

Bahlulzadeh`s magic world transformed into a total installation by graphic designer Timur Amirkhan. In parallel with the opening ceremony, the “Open Day” at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art lasted until midnight, and within the framework of the multimedia night Farhad Farzaliyev, Gunel Ravilova, Ibrahim Babayev, Ludmila Kristeseva, Timur Amirkhanov`s multimedia installations, digital projects, sustainable development and gender works created around the general classical collection of our cultural heritage, history and art, under the curatorship of the project author Konul Rafiyeva.
